Tamworth is a large market town right in the centre of Britain – close enough to Birmingham to share the benefits of working with England’s second city, but far enough away to have our own distinct identity. The borough of Tamworth has a population of 77,000 and you can find out more from the 2011 census. Here at Tamworth Borough Council, we are responsible for providing a wide range of services for those residents, as well as for the many businesses based here and the people who visit the borough. Our Council is currently made up of: 22 Conservative councillors, 5 Labour councillors, 2 UK Independence Party member (UKIP) councillors and 1 Independent councillor.
Tamworth borough council's become the latest authority in the West Midlands to make the move which they said is in line with government guidelines.
